My Problem With Nisekoi’s Second Season

While it is still ongoing and I’d guess it will go for the 20 episode stretch, I will weigh in with my thoughts on it so far.

It follows the manga really well and that could be it’s undoing. The episodes (and the manga) I feel are inconsistent. The manga often doesn’t really go anywhere at many points and has a fair amount of filler. Sometimes these stories are amusing, sometimes weak.

There is the introduction of new characters which is good and needs to happen.

Kosaki’s little sister, Haru.

Paula McCoy a member of the Bee Hive Gang that looks up to Tsugumi.

Often episodes with these introductions are short, or weaker as a whole show, but they are also pretty close reflections of the manga.

There was the candy making episode where Haru and Raku have to get along and find common ground. It is a short episode, there’s not much to it. It does serve it’s purpose, which is to show that the two characters can get along and do share some common ground.

And I am not about to say it’s all bad. The episodes with Chitoge’s mother are some of my favorite bits from the series.

This is my little opinion. Second season: not as good, but it is largely loyal to it’s source material. It is still worth a watch, but be aware it may feel like (and be) filler at times.

We shall see how the rest of the season plays out.

Oh c’mon….It’s not that bad.

Just to correct you, this season is only going to 12 eps. So this Friday (26th) is the final ep. At least that’s what I’m reading everywhere.

I’m not really enjoying this season either as there honestly is no plot. The best eps were 3 & 4, dealing with Chitoge and her mother. After that it’s just been random events each week with no real meaning.

As for Haru… well I rant enough about how much I dislike her on Twitter, but her character is adding absolutely nothing to the show and honestly I can’t see how there is a team for her.

That aside though, are you heavily dug into one of the best girl camps?

Yeah, I figured the anime would be too faithful to the manga to follow it. Since I read the manga (I stopped following it now), I knew it would not turn out as great as the first season. Really, the first season was the best part of the series. I can’t stomach a repetition of the boring parts of the manga, so I dropped the second season.

I completely agree with you on Haru. Her presence doesn’t really add to anything in the story. *sigh

I hadn’t read how many episodes they were going to do…Only the 13?! Well, that may kill the franchise.
I agree with you on the “no plot”, but like I said above: that’s not too far from the manga from what I remember and that is sadly what makes this season so weak.
There is a team Haru?? Ok…I agree with you. She is mostly annoying, but there will always be those who want to watch the world burn.
Since I have read ahead in the manga (I am no where near caught up), I would say I am on “team Chitoge”.

I read the manga and after meeting Haru, I thought she was annoying.

#TeacmChitoge is the only legit pair in my eyes, though I’d feel sad if Chitoge really ends up with Raku. Why? Because Raku is such a bland character. He’s too nice to everyone and I hate harem MCs like that.
